PTCB Exam Test Dates

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) is the first component to becoming a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).  Within two years of passing the exam, CPhTs are required to attend 20 hours of continued education.  More information on recertification can be found on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Website - Recertification.

The PTCB Exam has 80 multiple-choice questions, each with four possible answers.  The test is comprised of three separate sections:

  1. Assisting the Pharmacist in Serving Patients - 66%
  2. Maintaining Medication and Inventory Control Systems - 22%
  3. Participating in the Administration and Management of Pharmacy Practice - 12%

Questions related to the various sections will be strewn randomly throughout the exam, as opposed to being given in discrete sections.
